Where confidence begins
Hello! I’m Charlotte, TriTogether’s Head of Fundraising and a guest contributor on the blog this week. In my role, I spend a lot of time thinking about impact—how to communicate it, how to sustain it, and how to ensure that every student who needs support can access it.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve been reaching out to our tutors and parents to gather updates on how our students are doing—big milestones, small wins, and everything in between. I started this process hoping to collect a few highlights for our year-end communications. What I didn’t expect was how deeply moved I’d be by the stories that came back.
I heard about a student who began the year reading below grade level and hesitating on every answer, but who now reads aloud with growing confidence. I heard about a seventh grader who has made such great strides in math that she no longer needs to attend supplemental math at school, freeing up her schedule to take art and gym. I heard about children who once struggled with reading, grammar, and spelling but are now making steady, joyful progress each week. And I heard from parents who told us how relieved and grateful they feel knowing their children finally have someone in their corner—someone who shows up, encourages them, and believes in their potential.
What struck me most was the consistency of the stories. No matter the subject or age, every tutor described the same transformation: confidence. Confidence in their skills, yes, but also confidence in themselves.
I can’t wait to share more of these stories with you throughout the school year. They’re a powerful reminder of why we do this work—not for the perfect test scores or neatly tied success metrics (though those are wonderful when they happen!), but for the slow, steady shift that happens when a child feels supported. When they begin to trust themselves. When learning feels possible.
These are the moments that matter. They’re the heartbeat of TriTogether. They remind us that every hour of tutoring, every moment of encouragement adds up to something real. Something lasting. Something we’re building—together.
