Always growing
I was recently asked what makes me most proud to work for TriTogether. As I approach the midpoint of my fourth academic year with the organization, I have a lot to reflect on, and a lengthy answer to that question. I’ll do my best to keep it short.
I started as a volunteer tutor in fall of 2022, eager to gain experience as someone who knew they wanted to pursue a career in education. TriTogether’s mission aligned deeply with my values, and my own experiences had already shaped a strong passion for educational equity. That passion is what led me to stay involved with TriTogether in many different ways beyond tutoring. Over time, I have supported the organization through graphic design, social media, fundraising, training, interviewing, community events, and pretty much anything Hannah needed help with. More recently, I have found my niche as Head of Programming, a role I stepped into in October.
My time as a tutor with TriTogether didn’t just give me experience in education; it shaped my identity as an educator and mentor. When I first joined, Hannah talked about the importance of being a student’s cheerleader in our role as personal tutors. That mindset is what makes me most proud to be part of TriTogether.
Now, as a primary support for our volunteer tutor team, I strive to extend that same spirit not only cheering on our students, but our tutors as well. I draw on my prior experience to help tutors work through challenges, identify resources, and connect with others who can offer additional support. It is a role I believe every tutoring program should have, and one I hold with great reverence. I’m always growing as an educator, but to be able to also help others on their own journeys is an opportunity that I’m incredibly grateful for.
