Numbers matter

No matter how many students we serve in a year, each one benefits from support they might not otherwise receive. Still, after a summer filled with emails, meetings, Instagram messages, and phone calls, it’s encouraging to see how much our reach has already grown. Let’s look at the numbers.

Last year, we served about four students throughout the school year. At times we had more, but we struggled with retention and consistency. This year, as of mid-September, we have eight active student-tutor matches, ten additional tutors ready to be matched, and nine student referrals in progress.

For some, these numbers may seem small, but TriTogether was never intended to be a large organization. TriTogether is a community of volunteers committed to helping students reach their academic potential during what can be a very stressful time. We are a network of families and students striving to get on the right path with learning, even when times are tough and fundamentals may be missing. The fact that we have already doubled our matches compared to last year, have another nine potential matches on the horizon, and are entering October—a month when referrals historically increase—is exciting to see.

I don’t know if we will end the year with ten matches or thirty, but it’s clear that spreading the word and partnering with like-minded organizations has expanded our reach, both for students and tutors. We hope you will help us continue this momentum by following our social media (linked in the upper right of this page), attending our upcoming LearnTogether, and joining us at fundraising events listed on our Facebook page. If nothing else, you can stay in touch by signing up for our mailing list here

These small acts of support add up to a big impact. Little things—sending an Instagram message, commenting on a Facebook post, making a phone call—have already helped us double our impact. I am confident this is going to be a great year, and we are grateful for the support of our community.
