Look! We learned!
Our first LearnTogether was last week, and I absolutely loved it. Of course, Priya was incredible, and hearing about Lawyers for Civil Rights and the BizGrow program was inspiring. Immigrant-owned businesses bringing the foods they grew up with to the Boston community? It’s such a powerful reminder that our diversity enriches our community—and that’s really the heart of LearnTogether (see what I did there???). We come together as a community to listen to and learn from someone with a unique perspective on a meaningful topic. Priya echoed this, telling me afterward that we are clearly an organization that shares their focus on equity and justice. And I know we do.
The first of anything is always an experiment, and we’re grateful to Priya for trying it out with us. Look! We learned! And that’s a win in my book. We’re also excited to have Whitney Finlinson join us next month. She’s a small business owner and volunteer child advocate, working with CASA to support children in foster care. If you’re not familiar with CASA, I’ll just say this: they’re amazing—and I encourage you to join us.
I connected with Whitney on LinkedIn, where I’m sure she expected inquiries about her own business. Still, she took a call with me and was genuinely enthusiastic about speaking with all of you. Join us on October 15 at 7:30 PM EST to learn how volunteer advocates make an impact in the foster care system and change children’s lives. Registration is free, and you can sign up here.
As always, LearnTogether events are open to anyone, and we hope you’ll help spread the word. Let’s come together to learn about another organization making a difference for youth in foster care.
