A year’s reflection
Written by Theo, our Head of Programming
In the last year, I have had the privilege of watching TriTogether grow as the organization’s Head of Programming. We have published a lot about our development on the student side of things, but I wanted to take the time to highlight the work we’ve done to expand our tutor base.
Last year, when Hannah and I met to discuss the future of the organization, we set a few goals around establishing stronger tutor support and resources. We received plenty of feedback from the year before and set out to make this our best year yet! In terms of the number of tutors, we greatly exceeded our initial recruiting goal. By expanding our recruitment efforts across Massachusetts we connected with 51 volunteers during the academic year, and many have engaged in long term tutoring.
Improvements to support included setting up weekly email check-ins, ensuring training was more robust and reflective of our specific services, and launching monthly seminars that help our tutors stay involved even when they are not actively working with a student. We held internal programming that allowed our tutors to connect with one another, and we even had our first in-person meet up this past weekend!
All in all, I am incredibly proud of the community we have grown at TriTogether, especially during this last school year. We have built a solid foundation that supports not only our students but the tutors who work with them, and I am so excited to see how it grows this academic year!
